We asked Chris Hyde of Hyde Estate to give us a vineyard update from (windy!) Los Carneros in the southern end of Napa Valley.

Los Carneros is a cooler area of Napa Valley, with prevailing marine winds from the San Pablo Bay and through the Petaluma Gap to the west. High temperatures during summer rarely exceed 80°F (27°C) with less diurnal range variation.

You can tell by the wind noise that it was windy. It’s almost always windy in Carneros – you can see the bay from the hilltops there. For many people who visit the valley, Carneros is the first AVA you see as the drive up from San Francisco takes you right through here – not too far from where we filmed Chris!
