Materra, Cunat Family Vineyards Director of Winemaking Chelsea Barrett talks about protecting grapes from the sun and managing temperatures of their clay loam soil with Oakville bluegrass as their permanent cover crop. “The soil can get quite hot in the summer with the amount of clay… It really helps us with managing the soil temperature and the moisture level.”
